Cleaning Plastic

Plastics are everywhere in our lives, and many different products that we use daily are made from plastic. Plastics can be found in our phones, cars, and throughout our houses. The innovation of plastic has helped push our society much further than it would be without plastics, but one of the biggest problems we have is cleaning plastic. What should we use to clean plastic, and what are the best plastic cleaning methods?

One great thing about plastics is how they maintain for a long time and stay can last for a long time. Plastics is something that usually doesn't need a lot to maintained other than a little bit of cleaning now and then. The first thing that you need to consider is the type of plastic that you will be cleaning. The best strategy for cleaning plastic is using hot water to give the product an initial scrub. You shouldn't be using cold water, cold water doesn't do a good job of breaking down and removing bacteria.

To be effective start by cleaning with hot water, and a dish rag or sponge. At this time you don't need to use any soap. Don't use a hard brush as you'll scratch the service and possibly cause permanent damage. After rubbing the products with warm water you will want to begin by introducing a cleaning compound to the device. You want to be sure that your soaps or cleaners don't include acidic or alkaline based solutions as they can cause your plastics to break down. Focus on soaps, most cleaners will work fine that you can pick up at your local grocery store. To start you will need to mix a tiny bit of cleaner to some warm water. Starting with an initial rinse saves you time and will allow you to clean your object a lot easier.

If you are cleaning a smaller plastic you will not want to put it into the dishwasher, dishwashers will heat up to levels that are too hot for most commercial plastics. Plastics are created from molds and plastic compounds that are heated up which is why reheating them makes them mold able again. Avoid things like boiling water or devices that utilize boiling water such as dishwashers, washing machines and stoves that have boiling water. Boiling water is plastics worst nightmare. Also resist techniques to dry your plastics that require a tremendous amount of heat, such as hair dries, microwaves, or ovens. A lot of direct heat on plastics will ruin the plastics as well.

If you are going to be cleaning chairs or outside furniture, you'll want to use a different type of solution. Get a buck and put some warm water and bleach based cleaner solution. Begin again by spraying the chairs prior with a hose or some form of water to help begin the break down process of the dirt. Once you've done an initial spray, which greatly helps the overall cleaning process, start by spraying the warm bleach water mixture on the chairs. At this point things may start getting dirty, use a sponge or scrub brush and dip it into the warm water bleach solution and begin scrubbing the chairs. Once you've cleaned the chairs up well you'll want to let them sit for about five minutes, after the waiting time you'll need to do a final rinse. After those five minutes begin to hose down the chairs and the dirt should be completely removed.

The rules apply to all types of plastics so it really doesn't matter what kinda plastic you are cleaning, if you don't clean with these rules in mind you may have adverse affects. The plastic that you may want to maintain will eventually begin to break down and it'll never be the same.
